What Is Real Estate?
A simple snapshot of real estate can be summarized as a class of “real property” or fixed property (buildings) which includes the land it’s on and anything that is permanently attached to it, may it be naturally existing or man made. The five main categories of real estate are:
Understanding Real Estate
People often use the terms land, real estate, and real property interchangeably, but there are some subtle distinctions. It is very easy and common for people to utilize the terms like land, real estate and real property interchangeably. Yes, they may all be similar at a glance, but they each have subtle distinctions.
Land – It refers only to the earth’s surface down to the center of the earth and upwards which includes the airspace above it, the trees within it, the body of water it contains and its minerals.
Real estate – It includes the land by definition and includes the houses, buildings and any permanent man-made addition that lies above and below it.
Real property – This term expands its definition to include (on top of owning real estate) the underlying interests, benefits and rights inherent to owning a real estate. If you legitimately have real property, it only means that you have the right to possess, sell, lease, and enjoy the land altogether. On a careful note, real property should not be confused with personal property. Personal property has a wider grasp by definition and includes everything that does not fit how real property is defined. Examples of personal property are movable assets like furniture, paintings, boats, land vehicles, clothing and the list goes on.

The expiration of forbearances may also have led to this. Many undervalued real estate is purchased, then fixed up and sold for profit.
You can invest in real estate directly by purchasing a home, a rental property or other property, or indirectly through a real estate investment trust (REIT).
